Yes, it has come to fruition-- there will be a new Predator movie due sometime in the summer of 2010, however it will be produced by Robert Rodriguez, director of the Spy Kids trilogy and directed by Nimrod Antal, with the script having been originally written by Rodriguez and revised by Alex Litvak and Michael Finch. You would think that I would come to appriciate this new film considering that I am a Predator fan but to be quite honest, I actually DREAD it. I was hoping that Twentieth Century Fox would not go through with this at all, and as I fan I was hoping that this day would not come at all. I have a feeling that like Joel Schumacher, who has ruined the Burton-Schumacher Batman films, Robert Rodriguez is going to kill the Predator franchise.

Sometime around 2003 or early 2004, while I used to frequent David Shipley's PlanetAvP.com website, I found a link which lead to the rough draft of Robert Rodriguez's PREDATORS script. Never before have I read anything so terrible, and this script was almost comparable to The Dark Ranger's Agony in Pink rape-snuff fanfic. Yeah, it's definately that bad. Robert Rodriguez's script completely ignores what has been established in Predator 2 (he wrote the script in 1996, way before the AvP movies came out) and possibly even retcons it. His script idea basically involved Dutch Schaefer (Arnold's character from the first Predator) and a group of rag-tag Marines heading off into the Predator homeworld, only to be forced to participate into slavery, human-technology trading, fighting in a gladiator arena and have among them a human snitch to the Predators. The Predator characters are written out of character entire, the Yautja concept has been thrown away entirely, the honor concept is gone out the window in favor for Rodriguez's vision. Don't believe me? I have the script linked in PDF format. Bare in mind that this is the first draft and not the final script, BUT it has been confirmed that they are using the basic idea for the new Predator film.

If Twentieth Century Fox wanted to kill the Predator franchise, they might as well have hired Uwe Boll to do the entire movie right from the start. Seriously, the script idea is just absoloutely horrible, it not only gets rid of the Yautja concept and the honor concept which has been entirely introduced in Predator 2, but it also implies that the Predator race cannot even develope it's own technology and has to trade with other alien species to do it. Lame idea, bad idea as well. Not only that we are introduced to some of the lamest alien species ever-- Cockroachmen. Yeah... Cockroach Men. Oh and think THATS bad? Go to page 109 and read there-- PISSING PREDATORS! Yeah, a group of group of Predators gather around a character named Wilson and PISS on him.

Robert Rodriguez, what were thinking, smoking or eating when you had written this piece of shit? Either you had a severe case of Montezuma's Revenge after drinking some bad water, or you were smoking something so potent, or you are just so conceited that you fail to see your own faults in your script? I have already linked the script to AvPGalaxy's forums and with each bit of news that has been coming up from interviews with Rodriguez, fans have been reacting IMMENSELY negative towards the man's ideas. You might as well have three running cotinuities now, considering that an executive at Fox has said and I quote: "This film is to go back to the Predator franchise, and to wash our hands from the AvP films."

....What was wrong with the Alien vs. Predator films?! I thought they were good. I mean they perfectly had fit in with the Predator films and the Alien films. There was little to nothing wrong with the AvP films if you ask me. Has Twentieth Century Fox lost their minds?! They go onto say that they're outright ignoring the AvP films in favor for Rodriguez's shitty concept?! Kevin Peter Hall and Stan Winston must be rolling in their graves right now! It's already been confirmed by Twentieth Century Fox, there are officially THREE different cotinuities now instead of one united cotinuity.

As a Predator fan, I do not like the idea of this new Predator film being directed by Nimrod Antal and Robert Rodriguez. I refuse to acknowledge this film. Seriously, Rodriguez, you should stick to doing Desperado films or those shit Spy-Kids movies you like to make. I know, I know-- not too much has been revealed about the film script being re-written, what has been omitted and added but I can tell you that without an entire script re-write, this movie is doomed to failure. And the fact that Rodriguez says that it's a direct sequel to the original Predator (meaning it ignores Predator 2), insures that the man is possibly conceited and asanine or smoking something, and his vision is doomed to fail. The fans have already expressed their dismay, and the fact that Twentieth Century Fox is still trying to force feed us by saying "THIS IS GONNA BE A COOL MOVIE!" already spells it's demise.

I've lost almost all faith in cinema. I've lost respect for Twentieth Century Fox. Robert Rodriguez shouldn't have touched the Predator franchise with his ideas. And as a fan, I am immensely disappointed.

Screw you Robert Rodriguez. Screw you Twentieth Century Fox. Thank you both for killing my childhood. You guys might as well succeed in doing what Schumacher did to Batman to the Predator franchise. But I know as a fan, I'm not going to accept this shit.
